      A Nigerian pastor has been arrested and jailed after being caught smuggling cocaine worth Sh3.1 billion.

According to reports, the pastor, Mr Chukwudi Okechukwu, who preaches in Tanzania under the Lord's Chosen Church of Nigeria was jailed for 30 years. Police believe he is one of the top members of a drug syndicate operating in Tanzania, Nigeria and South Africa. Okechukwu was jailed alongside a South African, one Stan Hycent and Pakistani Shoaib Mohammad Ayazi over the same offence.

According to police reports, on the day of the arrest, Okechukwu and his accomplices were hiding in the Dar es Salaam’s Kuduchi Mtongani suburbs. Police received intelligence that there was a plan by a group to smuggle huge quantity of cocaine into the country. A surveillance team led by head of Anti-Drugs Unit, ADU, Godfrey Nzowa, was deployed to keep an eye on the mansion that the preacher and his accomplices had rented.

Police report further revealed that when they knocked on the door and made themselves known, the alleged culprits began running around the house in panic. The smugglers were eventually arrested. The Nigerian pastor managed to escape the mansion, but was eventually caught after a chase.

Bill Cosby has been charged with sexual assault more than a decade after a former Temple University employee told police the comedian drugged and violated her at his home near Philadelphia.

NORRISTOWN, PA. — Bill Cosby was charged Wednesday with sexually assaulting a Toronto woman at his home 12 years ago — the first criminal charges brought against the comedian out of the torrent of allegations that destroyed his good-guy image as America’s Dad.

Cosby was charged with aggravated indecent assault and was to be arraigned in the afternoon.

The TV star acknowledged under oath a decade ago that he had sexual contact with Constand but said it was consensual.

Constand, a graduate of Albert Campbell Collegiate in Scarborough, worked at Philadelphia’s Temple University as a basketball manager. She now works as a massage therapist at a Toronto clinic.

“On behalf of our client, Andrea Constand, we wish to express our appreciation to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, the County Detectives and the Cheltenham Police Department for the consideration and courtesy they have shown Andrea during this difficult time,” Constand’s lawyer, Dolores Troiani, said in a statement Wednesday.

“We have the utmost confidence in Mr. (Kevin) Steele, Ms. Feden and their team, who have impressed us with their professionalism. In that this matter is now being pursued in the criminal justice system, we will not comment further.”

Constand, now 42, is ready to face Cosby in court, Troiani said this fall.

“She’s a very strong lady,” she said. “She’ll do whatever they request of her.”

The charges were announced just days before the 12-year statute of limitations for bringing charges was set to run out.

Union negotiations: Contract talks between 28,000 members of Unifor and the Detroit Three automakers in Ontario are set to shape how many of the remaining 10 assembly plants here continue to operate. Gidado said that the corpse of the man was evacuated from the scene by the police from Unguwar Rimi Division.

Salomon Junior, the captain of Bayelsa United, stressed that the league should not start until all the clubs have settled their debts to the players, while ensuring such contract breaches do not happen in the new season.
“The league shouldn’t start if the debts owed the players were not paid in full,” Junior noted.
Meanwhile, The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is said to have proposed January as the kick-off date for the 2016 Nigerian Premier League season.

Nigeria is currently facing many challenges. The deadly Boko Haram insurgency that Buhari’s government is said to have crushed, the upsurge in pro-Biafra agitation, corruption and many other political battles.

1. Nigerians should not expect President Muhammadu Buhari to achieve much in the anti-corruption war as the whole effort will backfire as several notable people who are close to him will be indicted and thereby tie his hands such that he will not make progress.
2. Buhari’s administration will have more problems by removing the oil subsidy. If care is not taken, we are going to buy fuel at N200 per litre. The removal of oil subsidy will spur militant youths to damage pipelines to steal products for sale.
3. Nigeria army will not be able to defeat Boko Haram if the air force is not fully involved. They can only defeat the insurgents with combined air and ground assaults and using satellites to target their leaders.
4. People in the south west and south south must be careful because the Boko Haram will infiltrate these areas. The insurgents will still carry out more suicide bomb attacks in Plateau and Abuja.

Another death in Nollywood was averted when Nollywood actor Charles Okocha escaped being killed when he was hit by a stray bullet from the gun of a mobile police officer.
The policeman who was in a celebratory mood was said to have fired the shot at a wedding ceremony in Nnewi, Anambra state.
The news was first broken on social media by Cossy Orjiakor but she did not give details till Kelly Hansome did.

Facts have emerged on how Sergeant Stephen James, police murdered three residents and also took his own life in Ketu area of Lagos state on Boxing Day.

The News reports that the late police officer was proud of the ‘terrorist’ tag placed on him by residents of the area.
Sule Ajayi, a 26-year-old resident of Ketu who reportedly got to the scene of the incident minutes after the occurrence, said: “Guys around always called him Terrorist and he was proud to be associated with the nickname, excited anytime he was hailed.”
The late police officer with Force number 217884, shot dead a set of twins, Taiwo and Kehinde Oyesunle and a third person simply identified as Jeje in a Boxing Day tragedy at the Paulson Hotel located on Anibaba Street, Ketu during a footbal match before killing himself.
“Many times, he had threatened people, both residents of this our area and those who patronise the hotel. When he is charged, he would yell at people over any slight provocation and threaten to shoot and kill.

MANPREDICTS HIS OWN DEATH ON FACEBOOK AND DIES HOURS LATER,SEE WHAT HE WROTE

A businessman, Egheomhanre Eyieyien, has allegedly predicted his own death by posting a ‘prophetic’ Facebook message just hours before his demise on Christmas Day.

In a commemorative message posted at 8.05am, Egheomhanre wrote: “I hear in my spirit the words; an unusual Christmas Day; an uncommon day; completion; conclusiveness; unmistakable proofs, ear-tingling testimonies… to the person who can believe God. Merry Christmas!”
Barely five hours after, Egheomhanre’s only brother, Iyere, has announced the death of his brother on the social network.
“My only brother, Pastor Egheomhanre Emmanuel Eyieyien (29th April 1967 – 25th December 2015), went to be with the Lord this morning after a brief illness.
“My heart is heavy. What can I say but thank God for a life well spent? He fought a good fight. The crown he worked for all these years is now resting majestically on his head. Jehovah be praised!” Iyere’s message says.

27 year old man r@pes 11 year old pupil and damaged her womb

When Mrs Lawal sent her 11-year-old grand-daughter (names withheld) on an errand to deliver okro to a customer, she did not envisage that the girl would be ambushed not to talk of being raped.

The fate that befell the grand-daughter on November 29, 2015, at Pure Water Bus Stop along Lagos-Badagry Road, was better imagined than experienced; she was found lying on a culvert unconscious, with blood all over her body.

It was learned that victim was ambushed on her way to the next street when a 27-year-old bakery worker, identified as Sule, allegedly ambushed her, dragged her to an uncompleted building and raped her.

It was alleged that Sule then abandoned the little girl there. She regained conscious and barely able to walk out of the uncompleted building when she collapsed on a culvert near Adebola International School, along palace road.

The suspect allegedly ran away after the rape, but police officers from Morogbo Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended him a week later.

Narrating her ordeal, the Primary 3 pupil said:

Reactions have continued to trail the federal government directive to scrap petroleum support fund, also known as fuel subsidy and to peg the pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N85 per litre.

The fuel scarcity continued throughout the Christmas holidays

There has been mixed reactions since Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, the minister of state for petroleum resources and group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), made the announcement yesterday, December 25.
While some Nigerians welcomed the announcement by the federal government, other have described the reduction of petrol pump price from N87 to N85 per litre after the removal of fuel subsidy as a failed attempt to deregulate and regulate sector at the same time.

BOKO HARAM STRIKES AGAIN,READ WHAT THEY DID

Members of the Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram on Friday, December 25, invaded Kimba, a pastoral community in Borno state killing at least 11 people and leaving dozens injured.

According to Sahara Reporters, two members of a local vigilante group in the community said the insurgents rode into the town on bicycles since Kimba, which is in Biu local government area, is remote.
He said the attackers sneaked into the town at dusk and began their killing spree.
Mohammed Aliyu, a vigilante member said: “They killed 11 people and injured many more people and set the whole village ablaze.”

Another member of the vigilante group, Isa Biu said: “The attackers rode on bicycles to invade Kimba. They had guns and they just opened fire on villagers.”
