The minister of interior, General Abdulrahman
Dambazau, is expected to join the military forces in Delta state in a
bid to beef up security and maintain peace in the region.

A court order calling for the arrest of Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, has sparked the bombing of pipelines and oil facilities by militants suspected to be loyal to the ex-militant leader.
Residents in the region have raised the alarm over continued shooting and distribution of arms by the militants.
Leadership reports that Dambazau may join Mansur Mohammed Dan Ali, the minister of defence, and Major-Gen Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin, the chief of defence staff, in order to get an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in the region.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state had dispelled rumours that security operatives were planning to attack the communities in retaliation for the attack and has urged the people to go about their normal duties.
The governor assured the people that security operatives were on top of the situation and that although the level of damage had not been assessed, calm had returned to the creeks.
Meanwhile, security operatives launched a manhunt for Tompolo in connection with the violence in the Delta region.
