Journalist Yemi Itodo escaped assassination attempt
“The thugs were armed to the teeth and they approached me and asked if I was Yemi Itodo; I told them No,” he was quoted in the report.
The journalist claimed the former LG boss accosted him and gave him countless punches, accusing him of being the brain behind his removal as the council chairman.
“I was accosted few minutes later by Mr. Paul Adoyi, hitting hard on me and it took the intervention of other journalists from Benue and some aides to the Governor before I was rescued.
“Even at that, the chairman who was sacked a week ago by the Governor for ‘gross incompetence’ said openly (on records) that I was lucky to have escaped those boys and that he would come for me again.
“His anger was that I was the architect of his removal. According to him, I was writing stuffs against him on the social media and the Governor removed him based on that,” he added.
Itodo, a native of Otukpa Benue state said he had reported the case to the security operatives.
