KINDHEARTED MAN KILLED BY THE DRIVER HE HELPED

– A kind-hearted man stopped to help a driver who was stuck on an icy road
– He was fatally shot and killed by the driver of the car he was helping
– A memorial fund has been set up for Mr Heavner’s family and has raised almost $6,000

In a bizarre turn of events Jefferson Heavner, 26, was shot dead by the driver he was trying to help, after he saw a car stuck in the snow in Catawba County, North Carolina, USA.

The man and several other motorists stopped to see if they could help a driver but after realizing he was drunk decided to call police officers to deal with the matter.
This was the moment 27-year-old Marvin Jacob Lee turned aggressive, jumped out of the car with a gun and repeatedly shot a good Samaritan at point blank range.
Lee then got back in his car and refused to come out until a fully-armed SWAT team arrived and arrested him. Heavner, who is a single father of a 17-month-old son, died of his injuries at the scene.

His sister Jessica Heavner later said: We always had some type of 4-wheel drive vehicle, and we would go out and look for people who had spun out in the ditches. Pretty much the irony is he went out of this world doing what he loved to do: helping people.”
Marvin Jacob Lee has been arrested and charged with first degree murder following the killing. A  campaign has been set up to pay tribute to “the best son, brother and father.”
