HISTORY BEEN MADE IN MTN PROJECT FAME SEASON 8 AS AMOS ANDERSON MAKES HISTORIC COMBACK

History was made in the ongoing weekly MTN Project Fame West Africa 8.0 as Emmanuel Amos Anderson became the firstcontestant in the history of the competitionto be eliminated and then readmitted into the competition. Anderson, who is currently studying International Relations at IRGIB Africa University, Cotonou was the centre of attention as the judges were forced to cave into pressure from the audience by granting him reprieve to continue in the competition following his initial elimination. 

 

Like a prophet, Show anchor, Joseph Benjamin, set the tone for what could turned out to be the most nerve racking episode of this year’s edition of Project Fame with his ominous speech: “The show this week is going to be with lots of surprises and am sure you all will be delighted to see what the surprise is all about”.

Interestingly Anderson was not the only contestant on probation. The previous week saw all the Contestants placed on the dreaded probation. DeindeOkubajo, ChikeOsebukaEzekpeazu, OluchiOdii,Funmilayo ComfortArewa, Adanoritsewo Gold Tosanwumi and Pearl Awa-Agwuall escaped elimination, while KumiAmmaKorantema, Jeffrey UfedoAkor, Stephen SackiteyOkleteyBiqo, JoyChukwuma and Emmanuel Amos Anderson had to singtheir way to redemption. 

Kumi was saved by the panel of Judges made up of Bibi Brew, Ade Bantu and Tee.y Mixwhile theFaculty members comprising Uncle Ben, Joke Silva and Dupe Igesaved Jeff. Joy on the otherhand had her fellow contestants to thank for saving her from elimination leavingBiko and Anderson up for elimination.

As the show continues, followers will probably be asking if Anderson’s luck will still hold out,or will the young man’s dreams of fame and future be shattered?

GROOM SUES WIFE OVER NOT BEEN PRETTY ENOUGH, $20000 DAMAGES

An Algerian groom took his bride to court just a day after their marriage, accusing her of not looking as pretty as before the wedding and of cheating him with much make-up.

The groom, who is seeking $20,000 damages, told court in the capital Algiers that he was shocked when he got up in the next morning and found that his wife looked so different, that he could not recognise her.
Newspapers in the North African Arab country said the groom swore in court that he even mistook his wife for a “thief who came to steal his apartment".

“The groom told the judge that he could not recognise his wife after she washed the make-up off her face.
"He said he was deceived by her as she used to fill up her face with make up before their marriage,” the papers said, quoting a court source.

“He said she looked very beautiful and attractive before marriage, but when he woke up in the morning and found that she had washed the make-up off her face, he was frightened as he thought she was a thief.

"The groom told court that he is demanding $20,000 damages for his psychological suffering.”

DISAGREEMENT BETWEEEN INDIA AND PAKISTAN OVER DETAINED NIGERIAN STUDENTS INTENTIONS

The Pakistani and Indian High Commissioners to Nigeria have disagreed over reports that the two Nigerian students that were arrested in India are on their way to join the terrorist group, Islamic State of Syria and Iraq.

While the Indian High Commissioner, Ajjampur Ghanashyam, insisted that the two youths from Kano, Imran Kabeer and Sani Jamiliu, were on their way to Pakistan to join ISIS, his Pakistani counterpart, Lt. Gen. Agha Farooq (retd.), described the report as false.

Farooq stated that India was being mischievous, noting that the students could not possibly breach the Indian/Pakistani borders which he said was fortified with armed soldiers, underground mines and electrified barbed wire.

He said the allegation against the two youths was an attempt to demonise them “just because they are Nigerian Muslims.”

Ghanashyam in an interview he said his mission “now thinks twice before issuing student visas to Nigerians.”

According to him, the high commission is worried that radicalised Nigerian students in India may abandon their studies and travel out to join ISIS, adding that no fewer than 5,900 Nigerian students are schooling in India and about 30,000 Nigerians had graduated from various tertiary institutions in the country.

When asked if the high commission had changed its visa requirements since the arrest of the two Nigerians, Ghanashyam said it had not, adding however that the mission is more careful about visa issuance to applicants.

He stated that between 10 and 15% applicants were given visas, noting that the mission would take drastic measures to ensure that Nigerian students returned home after completing their education.
Ghanashyam said:

“Visa requirements have been on the web, everybody knows, but you see, you can’t locate the mind of a man to find out what his intentions are. If he has an admission letter from our school, and you have seen it with your own eyes, then you will give them visas, but now you have to think twice.
“You don’t know, but now we believe we are taken for a ride, but now you have to go back and tell them to look after these boys and girls and make sure they don’t go out here and there, to make sure they finish their course and board a plane to go back to Nigeria.
“The mission will be more careful. Usually, we give visas to about 10 to 15 per cent of applicants and this may further be reviewed.”

In regards to the arrest of the two youths, the envoy said that they were issued visas because they tendered the necessary documents including letters of admission from an Indian institution.
He said:

“These two boys from Kano said they wanted to study in Bangalore, we believed them and gave them student visas. They went to Bangalore last September. They spent one year, then they decided to go to ISIS, and they were trapped near the Pakistani border.
“I hope they are the exception and aberration, not the trend. I hope it would be the last of their kind. We have an association of close to 30,000 Nigerians who have graduated from India and we have 5,900 of students who are studying in India, it is quite worrying that if they go to India and from there, they go to ISIS, we would have a big issue on our hands.”

But the Pakistani ambassador dismissed the allegations against Kabeer and Jamiliu who are being detained by the police in Punjab, India.

Farooq, who displayed pictures of the Indian/Pakistani borders during an interview on Friday in Abuja, said that it was practically impossible for the two students to join ISIS by going through Pakistan because they would have to pass through three countries to reach Syria, whereas they could easily enter Syria by air through Turkey or by sea.
He said:

“From the pictures of the borders, you can see that there is no way the students could enter Pakistan from India because the border is well guarded with soldiers and other high-tech gadgets and it is controlled by India.
“The report that the Nigerian students were going to join ISIS is a hoax; how come it was reported by only Indian media? They just want to demonise the students because they are Nigerian Muslims.”

16 YEAR OLD GIRL TORTURED WITH HOT IRON BY AUNT FOR S*XUAL INTERCOURSE WITH LANDLORDS SON

A 16-year-old girl, Bimpe Badmus, has been burnt with a hot pressing iron, allegedly by her aunt who accused her of sl*eping with their landlady’s son. The incident occurred on Ogunjirin Street, Ketu on the outskirts of Lagos.

It was learnt that Miss Badmus’ aunt sought assistance of two friends, Khadijah and Iya Daniel, to hold her hands and legs before using the iron to burn her on several parts of her body.

Miss Badmus was said to have confessed sl*eping with the landlady’s son.

An eyewitness said the girl was severely beaten and chased out of the house.

He said: “They all live in the same compound. It was Khadijah that told Bimpe’s aunt that she was sleeping with the landlady’s son. Khadijah brought the hot iron from her room and gave it to Miss Badmus’ aunt while she and Iya Daniel held her neck. It was when they chased her out that the neighbours rescued her.

“The annoying thing is that it is not as if these married women are clean. I don’t know why they did that to her. It was when residents couldn’t stand the horrible situation that they took them to Ketu Police Station.”

Mr Fatai, who claims to be Miss Badmus’ distant brother, said: “When I got to the police station to see Bimpe, I was sad because the sight was horrible. My sister (Bimpe) was writhing in pains and when I asked the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) to release her for treatment, he refused. I asked the aunt if she was under a spell to have gone this far because it won’t stop her from having an affair. This is cruel.”

The landlady’s son’s elder sister, Tope Abimbola, said: “Even before they were taken to the police station, she was in pain. I thought she was going to die. I quickly went to a nearby pharmacy to get an ointment to relief her of the pains. It is really painful. She has been admitted at the General Hospital, Ikeja and she is responding to treatment,” she said.

Khadijah’s husband, Jimoh, said his wife had been problematic.

When The Nation visited the police station on Tuesday and asked the DPO why the girl was still being kept despite her condition, the officer declined comment. He walked the reporter out of the premises.

Eye witnesses, neighbours and on-lookers were stunned when the DPO said he did not care if his reactions are published in the newspaper.

But, Bimpe denied sl*eping with the landlady’s son.

”He has never sl*pt with me. I am really in pains. I can’t even go home because I don’t know what will happen. While they tortured me, they kept asking so many questions. I pray God heals me fast,” she said.

Lagos police spokesperson Patricia Amadin, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said the suspects had been arrested and will be charged to court.

This shocking event happened as a goat in Muzuwerani Kwa Ndomo, Kilishi County, Kenya gave birth to a kid with two fore legs and four hind legs. This is the third delivery for the mother goat, according to the goat’s owner Omar.but we are amazed of what this is to be called.

“The goat has given birth twice before to normal twins. However, when it came to the third delivery, I was shocked to see the kid having six legs and the reproductive organ located beneath the legs.It uses the same organ to pass both urine and excrement.”
“Some people have told me to kill it, but i see no need. I intend to see it through life. I am grateful to God it suckles well and i hope it shall be well,” he said.

BOKO HARAM PLANS TO ATTACK LAGOS STATE - SSS

    
The State Security Service, SSS, on Sunday disclosed that the boko haram terrorist group is trying to attack Lagos state.
The SSS made the disclosure via a statement issued by its spokesperson, Tony Opuiyo, on Sunday.
”The sudden influx of Boko Haram members into Lagos State points to the determination of the sect to extend its nefarious terrorist activities to the State and in fact, other parts of the country,” Opuiyo said.

DSS RECENTLY ARRESTED 21 ALLEGGED FRONTLINE MEMBERS OF THE BOKO HARAM

    
A new step in the cleansing of Nigeria from its biggest challenge has yielded result as The Department of Security Service has arrested 21 alleged commanders and front-line members of the Boko Haram terrorist group including the group’s suicide bomb attacks coordinator. A statement signed by Mr Tony Opuiyo, DSS spokesperson, states that the sect members were arrested in different parts of the country from July 8th to August 25th.

“They include those allegedly responsible for the coordination and execution of the suicide attacks in Potiskum, Kano, Zaria and Jos who were arrested on July 8 in Gombe State. Usman Shuaibu a.k.a money, said to be the co-ordinator of the suicide attacks, Ahmed Mohammed also known as Abubakar, an Improvised Explosives Device (IED) expert, who is said to have prepared the IEDs for the attacks. Others are Adamu Abdullahi, Ibrahim Isa, who allegedly carried out reconnaissance on targets in the Jos attacks, and Mutaqqa Yusuf who is said to have assisted Usman Shuaibu in planning and executing the attacks. Shaibu and his group were intercepted on their way to Bauchi State, where they had planned to execute another bomb attack”.

12 other suspects are said to have been arrested in Lagos State, while three were apprehended in Enugu, Gombe and Kano States.

SAD NEWS,AS DEAD WOMANS BODY IS STOLEN FROM HER CASKET AT A FUNERAL HOME

This is a really horrific experience as a grieving family is seeking closure after someone stole their daughter's body out of her casket at a Texas funeral home before she could be cremated following her funeral service in broad daylight., baffling police and forcing her family to deal with losing her a second time.

Julie Mott, 25, died Aug. 8 after a life-long battle with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe.

Her body was stolen after her funeral in San Antonio on Aug. 15 which would have been her 26th birthday, Sgt. Javier Salazar said.

Mott's body was discovered missing the next morning, when staff went to take her for cremation and found the casket had been broken into, Salazar said.

But there were no signs of forced entry on the Mission Parks Funeral Chapel North home, and no alarms had gone off or been tampered with overnight. That means her body was likely stolen from a private viewing area between the end of the service at 1:30 p.m. and the end of the business day at 4:30 p.m. after the funeral.
"Whoever did it was pretty daring about it," Salazar said, noting the crime could have been committed by just one person or a group because Mott was petite.
As to motive, "the possibilities are endless" and police will wait until they have apprehended a suspect to say why the crime occurred, he said.
“Our No. 1 priority, of course, is getting her back to her family,” Salazar said. “A close second is to find out who the person was who did it and bring them to justice.”

Dad Tim Mott begged for help finding his daughter's body.

"We just want our daughter's remains returned so we can have some closure to our grief," he said.

The situation is especially heartwrenching because Mott was expected to live to just 3 years old, Salazar said. But her family "encouraged her to live" and have fun.
She became a "vibrant, typical young girl" who loved to horseback ride but spent many days bedridden, Salazar said.

"It's heartbreaking to see a family that went through all that with her…now being put through this before being able to go through mourning and get the closure any family needs," he said.

Friends mourned the second loss of the San Antonio College graduate who brought joy into their lives, despite her pain.
"So disturbing and unbelievable that someone would do this. RIP Julie and prayers to your family in this horrible time," friend Jessica Payne wrote.
