Wrestling legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has died at the age of 61

Wrestling legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has died at the age of 61. Piper, born Roderick George Toombs, died from cardiac arrest in his sleep at his home in Hollywood on Thursday night but was discovered on Friday.
Piper had been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2006 but last November he said he was cancer free. Piper was a wrestling icon one of the biggest stars in the WWE back in the '80s, and even wrestled in "Wrestlemania I" back in 1985, squaring off against Hulk Hogan and Mr. T.

Piper was admitted into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2005 and was one of the top 50 villains in the history of the WWE.   Piper had a long relationship with WWE  the last time he last wrestled was back in 2008, but has appeared on various WWE shows up until 2014.

Piper is survived by his wife Kitty and their 4 kids. 3 daughters and son Colton.

Amnesty International considers legalizing prostitution

500 Amnesty delegates from more than 80 countries will gather at an international conference next week in Dublin to vote on whether to advocate the elimination of all penalties for sex work, on the grounds that it is a matter of privacy between consenting adults. Simply put, the Human Right group will vote on a new policy that calls for the global decriminalization of sex trafficking.

The sex-trade policy, according to the group is the best way to respect, protect, and fulfill the human rights of sex workers.

Its Deputy Executive Director, Cammie Croft said, "Sex workers are one of the most marginalized groups in the world so it is important that we understand how, as Amnesty International, we can work to support their human rights.

The violations that sex workers can be exposed to include physical and sexual violence, arbitrary arrest and detention, extortion and harassment, human trafficking, forced HIV testing and medical interventions" “They can also be excluded from health care and housing services and other social and legal protection.” she added. -

There was minor riot in Ariara market in Aba, Abia state today after Police/soldiers allegedly shot  and killed a trader at the market. Details are sketchy but according to an eye-witness, the soldiers stormed the market to arrest some people who resisted and during arguements, shots were fired and one man was killed (that's him in the wheel barrow). A few others were injured. Other traders took his body to the police station near the market.

The Nigeria Police Force revealed that armed robbers who specialize in robbing users of Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in commercial banks have devised a new method of dispossessing unsuspecting victims of their money. According to the Police,

"On July 30th at about 12:10am, a male bank customer went to withdraw money from one of the ATMs at the Central Business District, Abuja. Three young men pretending to have come to withdraw money attacked him. The victim raised an alarm which attracted nearby police patrol team to the scene.
The hoodlums took to their heels upon sighting the advancing police team. One automatic pistol fell from one of the suspects and was recovered by the Police. Luckily for the victim, the robbers were not successful in disposing him of his money. Female Suicide Bomber Kills 6 In Maiduguri

A female suicide bomber on a tricycle killed six people Friday in a new attack on a market in Maiduguri, witnesses said, as Nigeria and its neighbours finalise a force to fight Boko Haram.
“We took seven dead bodies, including that of the female bomber, to the hospital. Eight other people were injured and are now receiving treatment in a hospital,” Babakura Kolo, a vigilante in the northeastern town, told AFP.
The blast was the latest in a wave of attacks on busy markets — many by teenage girls — in Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon, which claimed at least 130 lives and left scores injured this month.
“The attack (on the Gamboru) market happened around 6:30 am (0530 GMT) as the grocers were arriving in the market which starts early,” according to Kolo, who became a vigilante to help the Nigerian army combat Boko Haram.
“From accounts we gathered from people around, the woman arrived on a taxi tricycle, as every woman grocer does. She blew herself up as soon as the tricycle stopped in the midst of other tricycles dropping traders off,” Kolo said.
“I was at home when I heard a loud explosion that sent me rushing out of my house. It was coming from the Gamboru market… The place was littered with victims and burning rickshaws,” a local resident told AFP.
Gamboru market is the second largest in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state and birthplace of Boko Haram, which has killed at least 15,000 people since its bloody insurgency began in 2009.
The Maiduguri attack follows a visit this week by Buhari to Cameroon to discuss a stronger regional alliance against the Islamists in the wake of an unprecedented wave of five suicide bombings there

This will be a new chapter in our lives. We’ve already been so fortunate for the opportunity to touch people’s lives around the world — Cilla as a doctor and educator, and me through this community and philanthropy. Now we’ll focus on making the world a better place for our child and the next generation.
We want to share one experience to start. We’ve been trying to have a child for a couple of years and have had three miscarriages along the way.
You feel so hopeful when you learn you’re going to have a child. You start imagining who they’ll become and dreaming of hopes for their future. You start making plans, and then they’re gone. It’s a lonely experience. Most people don’t discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you — as if you’re defective or did something to cause this. So you struggle on your own.
In today’s open and connected world, discussing these issues doesn’t distance us; it brings us together. It creates understanding and tolerance, and it gives us hope.
When we started talking to our friends, we realized how frequently this happened — that many people we knew had similar issues and that nearly all had healthy children after all.
We hope that sharing our experience will give more people the same hope we felt and will help more people feel comfortable sharing their stories as well.
Our good news is that our pregnancy is now far enough along that the risk of loss is very low and we are very hopeful.

New iPhone Rumors Emerge of a Waterproof Design

With all the hype surrounding the iPhone and the overwhelmingly futuristic features that smart phones possess in general, there is very little that genuinely surprises a fan.  Apple and other smartphone giants have consistently been engaged in offering innovative designs and functionality to users, so much so that on some level, users have become desensitized to the sheer brilliance of new devices that come out.
But this rumored new feature, that may or may not be included in the next iPhone, will surely stimulate a cerebral tickle. Yes, we’re talking about the next iPhone being waterproof.
Apple has long had a reputation for doing things its own way. Let’s take size as an example; when Samsung started with bigger smartphones, Apple didn’t conform right away. But when they finally did, their design was far superior to those other ergonomic disasters that we see every other day.

The Rumors

There are rumors and then there are rumors that seem likely. The iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 has been rumored to have a 2 GB RAM. That doesn’t seem all that unlikely. There is also a rumor that the next iPhone will contain holographic projections, since there is little or no evidence to this rumor, it seems unlikely. But the rumors regarding the waterproof design of the next iPhone could just be true.
Recent reports by Phone Arena suggest that Apple has acquired a patent that will allow it to make future devices waterproof. The patent has of course, been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and it will allow Apple to work on technologies that prevent moisture.
Another reason for the rumor to be true is that Samsung has been consistently upping the game, and a certain number of people have started to believe that Apple may fall behind in terms of functionality. Samsung has been bringing water resistant devices to the market for quite some time now, and it seems logical for Apple to offer the same feature in a relatively more attractive and functional manner.

How does it work?

The general idea of making devices waterproof is by providing some sort of water resistant cover to the components of the phone. This insulating layer prevents moisture from reaching the integral components of the phone. More specifically, the patent application by Apple describes this process as hydrophobic coating.
A problem of space usually arises with such a coating, and for that the Cupertino based tech giant probably plans to use a plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition process. This process aligns the coating with the components of the phone in such a way, that it does not take much space or cause interference.
Apple’s new smart watch is also aimed to be water resistant, but the best part is that the next iPhone is rumored to be completely water proof. Only time can tell what the future holds, and we can only speculate based on the evidence that we have. But one thing is for sure, if Apple manages to pull this off effectively, the next iPhone will be a huge success.

A middle-aged man (names withheld) has been arrested and arraigned before a Makurdi Court for allegedly having s3xual intercourse with his 11-year-old daughter.
The accused was arrested a few days ago after allegedly engaging the girl in days of repeated s3xual abuse whenever his wife was away from home, Vanguard gathered.
He was, however, caught in the act by a neighbour, who heard the cry of the girl, while she was allegedly being s3xually abused, in one of his escapades.
The neighbour was said to have called the attention of his wife to the development. She examined her daughter and, convinced that she had been defiled, reported the matter to the police.
At the hearing yesterday, police prosecutor, Inspector Hyacinth Gbakun, told the court that the accused contravened Section 91 of the Penal Code and the laws of Benue State.
However, no plea was taken for want of jurisdiction, but the prosecuting officer asked for an adjournment to allow the police carry out further investigations.
In her ruling, the presiding judge, Mrs. Cecilia Bakara, ordered that the accused be remanded at Makurdi Federal Prison and adjourned the case to September 29.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has appealed to members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria against allowing themselves to be used by kidnappers to perpetrate evil. ‘I was once a driver like you’, he said during the swearing-in of the new State Executive of the union in Ado Ekiti on Thursday.

“Please, I want to commend you for contributing immensely to the development of the state’s economy, but don’t allow yourselves to be used by evil doers. You can see that some kidnappers were paraded recently. Information from them revealed that they have been using some of your members.
“I was once a driver like you. I used the money I got from driving to sponsor myself for HND at Ibadan Polytechnic, but I did not get desperate. All I’m saying is that being a driver you can make it in life. You will become what you want to become in life with hard work. Don’t join evil gang for you to get rich overnight, try and rise through the ladder like we did,” he said.

Generator Fumes Kill Three In Bayelsa

A family of three, involving a husband, his wife and his child died in Emeyal community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State after inhaling fumes from a generator.
Their corpses were reportedly discovered three days after their deaths following an “offensive odour” that emanated from their decomposing bodies.
A community source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said

“The entire family slept on Sunday. There was no sign of them till Wednesday afternoon when we started perceiving foul odour from their house.
“The odour was saturating the entire neighbourhood and it got us curious.
“The family always kept to themselves and that was why nobody discovered their condition on time. Toxic gas from a generator killed them. They must have inhaled it over night. We called the police.”

Confirming the incident, the police identified the deceased family’s name as Ibieneye Tubotamuno.
Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, said;

“On July 29, 2015 at about 1550hrs, policemen responded to a distress call, that a foul smell was oozing out of the house of one Ibieneye Tubotamuno, at Emeyal Community, in Ogbia LGA.
“The policemen forced the house open and discovered the dead bodies of Ibieneye Tubotamuno, male, 34; Jennifer Asiagbuladia, female, 30 and Goodluck Tubotamuno, boy, eight years.
“Preliminary investigation revealed, that the deceased must have died about three days back, when they were last seen, as a result of inhaled fumes from a generator exhaust, which was kept inside their living room.
“Corpses have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Mortuary, Yenagoa, for autopsy. Investigation is ongoing.”

Boko Haram reportedly slit the throats of 10 fishermen in villages near Baga

Boko Haram members on Monday July 27th raided some villages near the town of Baga in Borno state, slitting the throat of 10 fishermen and destroying their properties. Speaking to AFP today, Abubakar Gamandi, head of the fishermen’s union in Borno State said,
“On Monday around 4 pm, Boko Haram attacked three villages on the shores of Lake. Chad where they slaughtered 10 people, all of them fishermen.”
The report was further confirmed by a local fisherman, Buhari Dan-Malam.

After police saw the video, Berg was charged with public indecency and breach of the peace. He was booked into jail, and his bail was set at $10,000.

Yesterday during his live programme on NTA, President Buhari said he won’t appoint men and women who lack integrity as ministers in his cabinet.

“We will try as much as possible to avoid appointing hostages; by this, I mean people who have been in the system but compromised their personal and professional integrity.
From what I have seen so far, we need very patriotic Nigerians to be ministers; Nigerians that can work very hard with knowledgeable experience; committed Nigerians to be in charge of ministries. A lot of institutions in Nigeria are compromised, everybody for himself and God for all of us. It is most unfortunate. We have people, educated and experienced people, but everybody seems to be working for himself on how much they could get away with as soon as possible.
We have to look for technocrats and politicians. We have to look out for decent people in this class to give them the responsibility of being in charge of ministries and important parastatals. It is taking so much time to appoint ministers because a number of knowledgeable people have been compromised.
They have been compromised by people who will like to depend on them to damage our economy and security; a lot of them have been compromised. The worst thing that I think can happen is to get a compromised person to be in charge of institutions.
There is no way he could be efficient or patriotic. Somebody behind the scene will be manipulating him at the expense of the nation. This is what we are trying to avoid and I assure you that so much damage has been done to Nigeria.
We cannot rush to give this responsibility to people that have unfortunately been compromised. This is because there is no way you can effectively supervise, let’s say 20 ministries, you have to give it to people you trust and you allow them to perform according to the Constitution of the country.
If you appoint compromised people, then we will be back to square one and Nigeria will be the loser.” he said

Big yourself up

Judge your jealousy

People are jealous of you as well
We guarantee that at some point, somebody has been jealous of you. Your super hot friend might be jealous of your great job. And that guy from school that lives in a mansion now? He’s green with envy over how close you are to your family. So why waste time being jealous of others when you’re pretty darn great yourself?
Don’t feel guilty
Jealousy isn’t the most enjoyable of feelings, but it is perfectly normal. If you start to beat yourself up over how often you are jealous of other people, you’ll gradually become more negative about yourself, and more envious of others. This is a dangerous cycle you do not want to get caught up in. Instead, accept the jealousy, address it positively, and move on.
Ignore your ex
One of the most common people to feel jealousy over is an ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend. They might have moved on faster than you, or lost a bit of weight since you broke up. So what? They’re out of your life now, and there was a good reason for that. Now is the time to focus on yourself, meet somebody new, and move on with your life.

Preliminary autopsy results shows that there are no obvious signs someone tried to kill Bobbi Kristina.
According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner, the autopsy shows “no obvious underlying cause of death.”  The Medical Examiner goes on to say, “no significant injuries were noted.”
The report says there were no previously unknown medical conditions that could have rendered Bobbi Kristina unconscious in the bathtub.
But the Medical Examiner says he has subpoenaed medical records, presumably from the hospital, to determine if drug testing after the accident was relevant. Gordon has said both he and Bobbi Kristina had been doing drugs and she took too much.
The Medical Examiner says he will not determine a cause of death until he reviews the records.

Horrible! Newlyweds Struck By Lightning on a Mountain

A newly wedded couple from Denver were struck by lightning while hiking Mount Yale near Buena Vista, Colorado, on Friday, leaving the bride dead.

The woman was identified as Kathleen Bartlett, 31 from Denver, while the man was identified as Ryan Pocius, 32, also from Denver. He was described as being in critical condition.

The lightning strike happened on a trail at 2 p.m. at an elevation of approximately 12,500 feet, which is about 2,000 feet below the summit.

A Day-Old Baby Abandoned In Ilorin

A newborn baby was yesterday abandoned by his mother in a carton in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital. The innocent baby boy was found along Adelodun road in the Government Reserved Area of Ilorin.
Good Samaritans who heard the cry of the baby alerted the police.
The baby was taken to Ilorin Civil Service Clinic for treatment.
A police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “The baby was abandoned this morning at that spot. A good Samaritan called the distress call number of the Nigerian Police, Kwara Command and a team from A-Division was sent to the place.
“When our officers got there, the fresh baby was found neatly packed inside the carton. And we took the newly born baby straight to the office and then to the Civil Service Clinic in Ilorin here where he was given medical attention.”
A nurse at Ilorin Civil Service Clinic said; “It is sad that a lady would freely throw away the gift of the Almighty. It is one of the ills of our society. It is so unfortunate at a time when some people are praying fervently to God to bless them with a baby that their prayers have not been answered.”
